For too long, getting a film made has depended on knowing the right person, having the right connections, or waiting for someone with money to decide that your story is worth telling. CineFund starts somewhere else: with you. With the filmmaker who refuses to put a good story back in the drawer just because nobody has written the cheque yet. Because your film shouldn't need a family fortune to exist.
Before the audience believes in the film, someone has to believe in it first. Before there is a poster, a premiere, a review, or a room full of people watching the finished story, there is usually something much smaller: one person saying, "I think we can do this." Maybe you don't know the filmmaker. Maybe you've never heard of the project. Maybe there isn't a famous name, a studio, or a guarantee attached to it. You simply see something in it — a story that stays with you, a filmmaker who won't let it go, an idea that deserves the chance to become real.
